Project Description

Within the context of the modernisation of the rolling stock in Dortmund, Bombardier was awarded the contract to build 47 vehicles. These new vehicles are from the FLEXITY Classic Vehicle family.
The three-section bidirectional articulated vehicles with a low floor part of approx. 70% have 2 motor and 2 trailer bogies. Conventional and tried and tested technical solutions are in use. The vehicles are to be distinguished by high reliability, high component redundancy, lower life-cycle costs and high passenger comfort. The electrical components were supplied by Vossloh-Kiepe at the customer's request or complemented by components already in use.
VCDB was commissioned on the basis of their references regarding the supervision of the manufacturer of vehicles of the same nature for Frankfurt am Main and Adelaide (Australia).

VCDB's Scope of Services

  • Client consultation regarding technical and maintenance aspects of the vehicles
  • Development of the documents for the acceptance tests (Acceptance Test Handbook, etc) schedule control and reports
  • First article inspections of specific vehicle components at the manufacturer's premises, regular quality control at the production sites, schedule control of the welding technology acceptance tests of the underframe and car body shells, inspection of the measurement results of the manufacturer
  • Final acceptance test at the facilities and function testing of the complete vehicle and examination of the vehicle documentation, including retesting
  • Representation of DSW21's interests on site at the manufacturer's facilities and documentation of all acceptance tests and inspections, regular reports
