Project Description

The aim of the project is the establishment of a unified Communication and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System for the regional transport companies for the neighboring transport associations Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (VVO) and Verkehrsverbund Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien (VON) in the region Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia. The regional AVL System uses a public mobile communications network and consists of the appropriate control centres and vehicle equipment.
Apart from the transport associations VVO and VON there are about 20 regional transport associations with a total of approx. 1,000 buses and trams involved as partners.
The realisation of this system creates the basis for wide spread use of the results of the research project intermobil in the public transport region Oberelbe which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
