Projects
SaxHybrid – Serial Hybrid Buses with Partially All-electric Drive
Scope of Business: Electric Mobility
Focus: Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
Clients: Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG, Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH
Project Term: Since 2009
Project Location: Dresden
Project Description
Within the development of an environmentally compatible local transport system on the basis of electric mobility, 20 hybrid motor low-floor articulated buses (18 m) are in operation which will be steadily transformed into buses with advanced electric driving operations. While the buses of the companies DVB AG und LVB GmbH are in operation, the potentials will be recorded to show the statistically significant relationships between the operation profile and the fuel consumption.
The buses driving mechanism consists of a serial hybrid system which has a partial emission-free all-electric mode – a later project will additionally allow the batteries to be charged from an off-vehicle electric energy source. The tendered vehicles form the basis for the implementation of the public transport sub-project– Electric-Street-Saxony - in the model region of Saxony.
VCDB GmbH as a subcontractor of DVB AG and LVB GmbH coordinate the project and contribute specialist knowledge.
