Project Description

The Japanese engineering group Niigata Transys (NTS) was advised on various aspects of track construction for modern light rail systems.
The focus was on the planning and implementation of a test track with slab track system 'Rheda City', of the type 'Dresden'. Prior to the introduction of the railway system the State Laboratory for Traffic Safety and Environment (NTSEL) had to give its approval.
Other areas of expertise included track maintenance, rail welding techniques and track restoration methods.

  • Execution planning for test track with two different designs
    - SlabTrack Type Dresden (DVB ® AG / Rail.ONE)
    - W-TRAM-System (® Vossloh Fastening Systems)
  • Use of two different covering methods
    - Asphalt cover
    - Paved cover
  • Solicitation and evaluation of tender bids from Rail.ONE and Vossloh for the material of the test track
  • Research on current and modern welding technologies for track construction and maintenance
  • Bid solicitation and evaluation of technology for build-up welding
