Projects

Traffic Simulation for the Streets 'Bautzner Straße' and 'Bautzner Landstraße' in Dresden (Germany)

Scope of Business: Transport Engineering
Focus: Traffic Surveys
Client: Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe AG (DVB AG)
Project Term: Since 2004
Project Location: Dresden

Project Description

The reconstruction for the 8 km section of track along the street Bautzner Straße / Bautzner Landstraße from Albertplatz and Grundstraße to allow connection for the traffic to and from the new Waldschlosschen bridge had to be researched, analysed and planned. The project also included the reconstruction of the terminal Ullersdorferplatz.
On the basis of the current situation and comparative investigations of different possible versions of the section, the effects regarding organisation and technology in relation to the traffic and building measures had to be checked for effectiveness. The requirements for all means of traffic had to be taken into consideration.
The results of the simulations and analysis are specifically related to this location and verified proposals for the future design in the area of investigation.

VCDB's Scope of Services

  • Setting up simulation models with the help of the program VISSIM for the current situation and diverse scenarios
  • Conducting traffic surveys for the production of input for the traffic simulation
  • Development of traffic volume and traffic volume maps
  • Development of traffic-related and partially coordinated control of all 16 light signal-controlled junctions with the help of the programs CROSSIG, VS-Plus, VisVAP, Sitraffic Office and integration of the control in the simulation models
  • Implementation of traffic simulations including measurement of parameters, evaluation of simulation results, qualitative and quantitative description of quality indicators, both for individual as well as for public transport
  • Comparative assessment of the simulation results, preparation of proposals for further expansion planning
