Project Description
The VCDB was part of a consortium which received an order from the German Federal Environment Agency to develop a traffic plan for the city of Petrozavodsk. The investigations were carried out under the Assistance Program of the German Federal Environment Ministry for environmental protection in Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. The project was carried out together with PTV AG Dresden, the engineering firm DREBERIS and the local leaders responsible.
An essential part of the project was the exchange between project participants and the capacity building of the local decision-makers in Petrozavodsk. In three workshops in Petrozavodsk and a study visit of a Russian delegation to Germany, their ability to make their own decisions with competence and confidence was improved.
The developed transport strategy for all transport modes includes recommendations for action with the aim to strengthen the importance of environmentally friendly mobility and can serve as a base document for future planning.
